MORE THAN TUTORING

Sometimes a student does not need someone to simply give them the answer.

They need someone to slow the process down, identify where the disconnect is happening, and teach them how to think through the work for themselves.

At Polly’s Literacy Lab, students receive individualized instruction that builds both skill and confidence.

We work on the areas students often need most:

  • Reading comprehension

  • Writing development

  • Grammar and sentence structure

  • Vocabulary development

  • Critical thinking

  • Literary analysis

  • Essay organization

  • Research and academic writing

  • Study and academic habits

  • College essays and applications

The Polly’s Literacy Lab Approach

1. Identify the Need

We determine what the student can already do well and where additional support is needed.

2. Teach the Skill

Instead of simply correcting mistakes, students are taught strategies they can use independently.

3. Practice Together

Students receive guided practice, feedback, and opportunities to ask questions without feeling embarrassed about what they do not know yet.

4. Build Independence

The ultimate goal is for students to become less dependent on tutoring because they have developed the skills and confidence to approach the work themselves.

Ms. Jade Polly is an educator with a passion for helping young people recognize that academic excellence is not reserved for a select group of students.

Her approach combines high expectations, intentional instruction, encouragement, and genuine relationship-building.

She believes students grow best when they are given both the tools to succeed and a safe environment in which to learn.

At Polly’s Literacy Lab, the goal is simple:

Help students discover what they are capable of, and give them the literacy skills to prove it.

“Throughout the summer, my girls improved their reading comprehension, expanded their vocabulary, and gained so much confidence in their reading abilities. More importantly, they genuinely enjoyed each tutoring session and looked forward to learning.”

-Tiffany Crawford, Parent

Your Student Can Become a Stronger Reader and Writer.

Sometimes the difference between frustration and confidence is having someone help a student understand how to approach the work.

Let’s identify the gaps, strengthen the skills, and build from there.
